A U.S. LLC and EIN do not guarantee a business account. Before applying, check whether the provider supports the company, owners' countries, business activities and actual operating address. Evaluate the exact account product and its current terms, rather than choosing a provider from an unsupported easiest-to-open ranking.
Separate the addresses in your application
A registered address, service-of-process address and physical trading address serve different purposes. Wise distinguishes registered and trading addresses and excludes virtual or mail-forwarding locations as trading addresses. Mercury also distinguishes a legal address from the physical address used for verification; its physical-address requirements exclude registered-agent and virtual addresses. Read each provider's current requirements before purchasing an address service.
Our agent address versus virtual mailbox guide explains why acceptance for a state filing does not establish acceptance for banking verification.
Compare requirements before fees
- Company and owners: supported jurisdictions, ownership documentation and identification requirements.
- Business activities: restricted industries and the evidence requested about operations or expected transactions.
- Address evidence: the physical location and documents the provider accepts for that field.
- Product: currencies, payment functions, limits, fees and the legal provider of each service.
- Protection and access: applicable safeguarding or deposit arrangements, account restrictions and how to contact support.
Do not assume a payment account, fintech platform and bank deposit account have identical protections. Review the product disclosures that apply to your account.
Prepare a consistent application file
Have the legal entity name, accepted formation record, ownership information, available EIN documentation and appropriate address evidence ready. Providers may request additional records. Supply information through the provider's official application, not through this website.
If an application is declined or needs clarification, request the provider's available explanation and check the outstanding requirement. Another formation package or mailbox does not itself solve an eligibility mismatch. Return to the EIN guide if the tax identifier is the missing step.
Questions about this decision
Does a registered-agent address qualify as a physical business address?
Not automatically. State filing and banking verification use different criteria. Wise and Mercury publish separate physical or trading-address requirements; check the relevant field and supporting documents before applying.
Which account is guaranteed to approve a non-resident LLC?
This site cannot promise approval. Providers assess the entity, owners, activities, addresses and documents under their current eligibility rules.
Put this into practice
Before opening an account, distinguish the agent, mailing and business addresses in your application. An address accepted for a state filing is not a promise of banking approval.
For the business tax identifier, use our EIN application guide and the IRS instructions it cites.
