Pennsylvania LLC annual report: the $7 fee and what to check after September 30

Separate Pennsylvania’s $7 LLC annual report fee from optional service charges, check whether your report was due, and find the official filing route.

Updated

Pennsylvania’s annual report filing fee is $7 for a business LLC. LLCs with a not-for-profit purpose pay no fee. You can file directly through the Pennsylvania Department of State; hiring a filing service is optional.

The Department warns that many third parties charge $100–$200 for a filing you can make directly for $7. Those larger amounts are service charges, not the state filing fee. A higher-priced offer does not, by itself, establish fraud, but it deserves a careful check before you pay. These details were checked against the Department’s annual report guidance on November 2, 2026.

Did your LLC need to file by September 30, 2026?

Domestic Pennsylvania LLCs and foreign LLCs registered in Pennsylvania have an annual filing window of January 1 through September 30. As of November 2, 2026, the September 30 deadline has passed.

However, the first report is due in the calendar year after Pennsylvania formation or initial foreign registration. An LLC first formed in Pennsylvania during 2026, or first registered there as a foreign LLC during 2026, has its first report due in 2027. It did not miss a September 2026 first-report deadline.

Check your formation or registration year before deciding that a notice identifies an overdue report. The official guidance explains both the annual filing window and the first-report rule.

Check a third-party notice before paying

A notice may offer an optional filing service. Before purchasing it, use this practical checklist:

These are practical checks, not additional filing requirements. The Department also urges businesses to keep registered-office information current. Failure to receive a reminder does not excuse the report, according to its annual report guidance.

Prepare the information your report needs

Gather the following before starting:

The information must be current as of the date you deliver the report, rather than a snapshot of the previous year. Financial information is not required. Report information is publicly accessible, so review the details you submit with that in mind. The Department lists the required information and explains public access.

Use the official filing route

Start at the Pennsylvania Department of State annual report page and follow its link to Business Filing Services, or BFS. The Department describes these online steps:

  1. Create an account if you are a new user, then sign in.
  2. Use Business Search to find your company.
  3. Select the Annual Report icon.
  4. Complete the form and pay the applicable fee by credit card.

No PIN access is required for an annual report. After processing, the form and acknowledgment are available in My Work Queue. Retain the acknowledgment so you can refer to it when checking your records or evaluating another filing notice.

What to check if you missed the 2026 deadline

If your LLC’s report was due by September 30, 2026, start by checking the official entity record and the filing options available through the Department. Establish whether the report is missing before paying a provider to address it.

The Department states that administrative dissolution, termination or cancellation for missing annual reports begins with reports due in 2027, six months after the due date. That transition does not exempt an LLC from a required 2026 report. It also does not support a claim that missing September 30, 2026, automatically dissolved the LLC. See the Department’s explanation of the transition.

Was Pennsylvania’s annual report a one-time filing?

No. Annual reporting began in 2025, and the annual requirement remains in effect. For broader state formation and compliance guidance, see our Pennsylvania LLC guide.
